Yemeni Red Tea at Half Moon Restaurant

Today instead of ordering my usual fruit juices, I ordered the Yemeni Red Tea (Shahee Ammar) at half moon restaurant.

They have got small pot (RM3) and big pot (RM6). For 1 person, I suggest go for the small pot. If you want to linger around drinking tea or with a group of 2-3 person, go for the big pot.

The tea was made immediately. It came out piping hot and hints of cloves flavour came out. Upon tasting the tea, you get hints of mint on your tastebuds. Do note that the tea is sweetened and I found lit a little bit too sweet, next time I will ask the server to dail down the sugar content.
Overall the red tea was quite refreshing and energizing. Not so thick and rich as coffee but have similar effects

I checked up the recipe and it's quite easy to make but you need to prepare the spices ahead of time. Eg. cloves, cardamon and mint.

Recipe
Boil water.
Coarsely grind 5 cardamon and cloves in a pestle and mortar.
Add to the water and bring to a rolling boil.
Turn flame down to a low for 10 mins.
Add 1/2 tsp of loose tea.

Retaurant Half Moon is located at the 1st floor of De Centrum Mall.

Malay Nasi Campur Restaurant at DeCentrum Mall

This place is just aptly named as Nasi Campur restaurant. The location is strategically located at 2nd floor opposite SPP book store and just outside the door to De Centrum Residences.

This place is popular with the working crowd and can get crowded during weekdays. The reason is probably this place offers an alternative to all the Indian Muslim (mamak) and middle eastern restaurants in DeCentrum Food is all self service, take whatever you want and order your drink.

Inside the restaurant there is a stall selling Japanese takoyaki (octopus rice balls), I didn't try it as wasn't really in the mood.

  1. This restaurant has got a GredB ratings (A being the best) which is considered ok. The food is all Malay style food so there's tempeh (fermented bean cake), ulam (raw vegetables), rendang , fried chicken, fried catfish.

RM 7.50 + Limau Suam

Price for 3 dishes here cost RM7.50 with limau ais drink. Overall food was ok but I think the nearby Uniten canteen (near the Uniten mosque) is slightly cheaper with similar dishes.

RM 7 + Limau Suam

Do note that this place is not open during weekends. Only open on weekdays.

Have you tried MAE? If you still not yet got ewallet exhaustion, Maybank just launch an ewallet into the market place called MAE, shortform for Maybank Anytime Everyone.

Benefits :
- Lots of merchants on Maybank QRPay can use

ParkInn at DeCentrum

Seems like DeCentrum City developer Protasco is tearing down 1 of the student hostel blocks to build a hotel. The banners outside says that it will be called Park Inn @ Decentrum City.

There were previously paper report that this place would be managed by Radisson Group of Hotels, a US chain of hotels based in Minnesota.

Where to order GAS at De Centrum

Cooking gas can be purchased from a mini market just below Unipark Condominiums. The mini market is located below Unipark Condominiums, just 1km away from De Centrum Residences.

Just drive to the security booth and mention that you want to buy gas and the guard will let you through after registering.

The mini market mentioned only sells 14KG cooking gas and they do not do delivery.

De Centrum Mall - June 02

What a difference a year makes, there seems to be more commercial activity going on around De Centrum mall. Ground floor and 1st floor seems to have more outlets opened. Upper floors are still unoccupied. Just notice Goddess Cafe like close down already.

De Centrum shuttle bus to IOI City Mall for RM1 per Ride

Today I just happen to be at the back of the IOI City Mall Shuttle Bus. The bus looked like it needs some washing but it was on its way to Uniten bus station in front of De Centrum Mall. The schedule to Uniten seem very limited, most of the trips end at Serdang KTM station.

De Centrum Music Video some IUKL student posted

Some very creative IUKL student created this video. It features De Centrum Mall and Residences in the video. It's definitely not easy to create such a video with so many scenes, even the KFC guy have to act inside. This guy should be from civil engineering faculty based on this profile and video.

De Centrum Mall FB Page

I just found out that the De Centrum Mall's fb page is being constantly updated with the latest shop openings. The Mall's facebook page is at :

One such info found was that MrDIY, a chain hardware store will be opening also in De Centrum Mall. That's good news for DIY people and contractors.

The other interesting part is they are opening up the back area of the mall to lease out smaller booths and kiosks for people wanting to start their small busineses.
